Should i get the BMW X3 or a less flashy car?

Im turning 16 and my dad said i could get a used car around 25,000 and the car i realy want is the BMW X3 but i think a more reasonble car is like the volvo XC90 but my mom has that car and i thought it would look bad haha. I just cant decide to get a car like toyota 4runner or volvo instead of the bmw and i try my best not to be flashy or look bratty!

please help but try not to be to harsh...

When you say 25000, do you mean dollars or miles. cos i am wondering why would someone get a used car for $25000.

From the options you have mentioned it seems your choice tends towards the flashy cars so you may get another brand and not be happy with what you have.

So look at what you really can afford and at the same time you will be happy with. If your parents do not object, then go for it and be safe.

It sounds like you%26#039;re trying to invalidate your decision with other choices. But honestly, getting a used BMW X3 is not really what I%26#039;d call bratty or flashy. It%26#039;s an entry level BMW that%26#039;s made to be within reach of the general public.

If it were an X6 or M3 I%26#039;d probably be having a talk with you haha but an X3 isn%26#039;t the type of car you%26#039;re going to get spat on or something.

To compare the two. The BMW will have better build quality but probably a few less features (for the same money) than the Volvo. In your price range the BMW will have better performance and about equal fuel economy. They%26#039;re both built from car frames, they both have excellent safety ratings, both will hold their residual value much better than say an Infiniti, Lexus, Acura or other diet luxury companies (no offense). I would just say personally I see the Volvo as more a family car. BMWs are always more about performance and technology. That being said the high compression engines take 91 octane and synthetic oil...

So the BMW will be more expensive to maintain and service, however, choosing the right one will be very important. I would do your best to get a one-owner X3 who not only maintained the car correctly but kept very good records as well. They come with 4 year 50,000 mile warranties if you could find one still under that would be great as well. Hope you get it.
Reply:I think the BMW x3 is better
Reply:You shouldn%26#039;t care what other people think. You should decide if the car is practical for you and is in your budget.

What year X3?

How much do you drive?

Can you drive a stick? X3s are better with a stick shift.

Cons:

If you are looking at a 2004-2006 X3 with an automatic, expect to get about 18MPG in real everyday driving. X3s need premium too. The %26#039;07s and %26#039;08s get better economy and have more power, but are out of your price range.

At today%26#039;s gas prices it will cost about $240 in gas to drive an X3 1000 miles.

BMWs come with 4 years of paid maintenance and 4 years of bumper to bumper warranty. For a BMW that is over 4 years old, budget about $1000 a year for repairs and service.

The 2004 X3 is very stiff. Many people find the ride too stiff. BMW softened the suspension in 2005 and again in 2007.

Not the best car off-road. An X3 is fine on all roads dirt, gravel, whatever. But if you are looking for a car to take out into the wild, there are better choices. For example the X3 can only ford about 20%26quot; of water. Go much deeper and you are looking at $9000 repair bill.

Pros:

Handling. No other SUV handles like an X3. Period.

Low center of gravity. It is almost impossible to roll over an X3. I%26#039;ve taken them out on a track. They won%26#039;t roll over no matter how fast you go.

Durability. An X3 will last a long time. Over the years you will get hit by some big repair bills. But if you keep up with the repairs the car will still look and run great at 250,000 miles.

Comfort. %26#039;05 and newer is a very comfortable car.

=======================

Most used X3s are great cars. When an X3 is a lemon it is a terrible car.

Ask the seller to provide a print out of the cars service history. They can get it from the parts counter of any BMW dealer.

Stay away from any BMW that has had 3 or more repairs for the same problem. Stay away from an X3 that has had many repairs for electrical problems.

One or two repairs over 3 years is normal.

Run away from any X3 that was a trade assist or a lemon law buyback. Don%26#039;t even look at any X3 that was flood damaged or has a salvage title.
