HI, I am trying to build a 393 - 408 cleveland stroker. I have forged diamond flat top pistons with a compression height of 2.265 and .030 bore. Have crank ground to take chev rods. Can you help me on the length of the H-beam rods needed. Would this be 6.0%26quot; Or 6.2%26quot; useing 4V close chambered heads and a Inlet valve lift of .578%26quot; exaust of .590%26quot; and an average duration of .315 degres.
Hope this is not over the top, any help would be appreciated.

What you need is alot of more info. You need to know the stroke, deck height, desired compression ratio, what is the cc%26#039;s of the head, need to know the cc%26#039;s of the piston. You need all these exact measurements to get the right rod length.
Rods will not give you cubic inches only bore and stroke does. The formula for figuring out ci is
stroke X bore X bore X .7854 X # of cylinders = displacement
As you can see rod length is not a factor in this equation.

what you need is the right stroker kit for the Cleveland, either that or you%26#039;ll have to bore it out to get the 408, kyou%26#039;ll probably want the shortest rods depending on the pistion highth and pin location.

you can see by the calculator if you use the 3.85 crank, you%26#039;ll need a bore of 4.110 to get to 408, that%26#039;s 0.080 overbore and I don%26#039;t think you can go that far.. So yo will have to opt for the 408 stoker crank., that%26#039;s a 4%26quot; stroker. I think what you are looking for is the 4 x 4 with 0.030 overbore.

here%26#039;s a Scat 408C kit, it uses a 6 inch rod.. The biggest thing about what rod to use would be where the pin is. Couldn%26#039;t find a 393C kit at Summit.
